A Circle is a Circle....

Through the kind hearts and generosity of my friend Brian and his wife, I have returned to the Blue Mountains.  With over 14,000 kilometers on Roobie, it is time to move on with another ride and another destination.  Hopefully Roobie will find another rider who will take her on further adventures in Australia.  I am heading back to North America to begin work on Blondy, and get her ready for a summer of riding in Canada and the US.

Some highlights  of the last few weeks on the road are worth mentioning.   I have noted my fascination with the Burke and Wills expedition, and these two are quite well remembered out in the outback.  I ran across this cosy little setup on my way east.

Got Termites????

A classic Queensland building...

This photo caught my eye as it gives one a bit of perspective on the size of these monsters....

I think that it is safe to say that each dash is a foot or more of croc....

Paramedics attempt to resuscitate Krys the Croc....

Looking out into the Gulf of Carpentaria....

Next stop, India....

Each dash represents at least a foot in length for the Croc in the River.....

Handsome fellow, wasn't he?

Anyone travelling in Queensland needs to be aware that there are car eating cows throughout the region.  I saw evidence of this in the Northern Territory, where the cows had eaten so many cars that they were lying on their backs, hooves in the air, and bloated from their bovine feasting on tourist cars...they seemed to target Asian drivers particularly.

The parrots are to be feared in Queensland too.  These ferocious man-eaters had to be caged in order to protect tourists...

This one had the eerie ability to stare his prey down...his gaze was strong enough to melt the metal in the cage....

A courageous Queenslander truckie had risked his life to capture a whole herd of the the car eating cows.  His road train was full of the fearsome beasts, and he was taking them off to be reprogrammed...

Clearly they are deprived car eaters....

Most emus don't stop long enough to have their photos taken.  This one had somehow fallen in love with a horse, although I suspect Mr. Emu was simply near sighted, at best....

Some gliders being delivered to flightless cadets...

In case Pat reads this, she should be reminded that Vincent is on her wall....

Lightening Ridge: another opal field for Australia...

Some German riders thought they had the perfect machines for Outback Australia...

Sometimes you just can't get a campsite to yourself....

I finally found what I had been looking for........

This visit to Australia has reaffirmed for me that in every country of the world there are people who are kind, generous and more than willing to help their fellow man.  I found that Australians are extremely open to visitors, welcoming in every way, and more than willing to share a story, a cuppa, and provide a wealth of information about their beloved country.
